ICAP (company)

ICAP plc is a UK-based voice and electronic dealer broker and provider of post trade risk services, the largest in the world carrying out transactions for financial institutions rather than private individuals. ICAP is an abbreviation for Intercapital, a name by which the business was previously known. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.

History

The company developed from a merger between Garban plc and Intercapital plc which created Garban-Intercapital plc in 1999.

Intercapital plc was originally founded by Michael Spencer in 1986 as Intercapital Private Group Limited ('IPGL'); in 1998 it was acquired by Exco plc in a reverse takeover and the enlarged business was renamed Intercapital plc.

Garban plc was originally established in the 1970s as the financial services division of MAI plc. Several takeovers followed, starting in 1977 when MAI plc acquired Harlow, Meyer and Co. Mallon & Dorney and Garvin GuyButler were both acquired by 1982 and in 1983, Garban LLC was acquired giving MAI plc significant broking interests in the UK and overseas. In 1996, MAI plc was merged into United News & Media plc: its financial services division was then de-merged and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1998 as Garban plc.

Company (Heroes)

The Company refers to a fictional covert international organization in the NBC drama Heroes. Its primary purpose is to identify, monitor and study those individuals with genetically-derived special abilities. The Company played a central role in the plot of Volume Two, during the second season of the series. It is a very notable organization in the series and is connected to several of the characters.

Founders

In season two, Kaito Nakamura revealed that there were twelve founders of the Company, and a photo of the twelve is later seen (listed below under "Group photo"); it did not include Adam Monroe, an immortal human with the ability of rapid cellular regeneration, who is described as the one who "brought them all together." The Company began sometime between January 1977 and February 14, 1977. Monroe was locked away for thirty years on November 2, 1977, concluding that he only spent about 10 to 11 months with the Company. In the first season of the show, Daniel Linderman heads the Company until his demise. He is substituted in the second season by Bob Bishop, who is implied to be the Company's financial source. However, when Sylar kills him in the beginning of Season 3, Angela Petrelli takes over. Several of the founders have children who are posthumans and who are main characters within the series.

ICAP/4

ICAP/4 is a family of commercial SPICE analog circuit simulation software developed and sold by Intusoft for use on personal computers. It is Intusoft's fourth generation analog and mixed signal circuit simulation package and is used in electronic design automation.

All of the ICAP/4 products incorporate the Intusoft IsSpice4 simulation engine, which is based on Berkeley SPICE 3 analog simulation with the Georgia Tech XSPICE event simulator model. The original IsSpice simulator was created in 1985, however the current version offers many distinct advantages over its Berkeley SPICE predecessor.
